Oleksiy Lyubchenko and representatives of the METS project identified areas of work in 2021

Chairman of the STS Oleksiy Lyubchenko held second meeting of Steering Committee of the METS project “Ukraine – Sweden: Partnership for a modern and efficient Tax service”.

Meeting was also attended by Deputy Chairmen of the STS Mikhail Titarchuk and Natalia Kalenichenko, Deputy Head of the Swedish Tax Agency Fredrik Rosengren, METS project manager Anne Andreasson, long-term METS project expert Arne Jakobsson and national program coordinator of the Swedish Embassy in Ukraine Anna Tsarenko.

“Sweden is a country with one of the most transparent and efficient tax systems in Europe, the highest level of tax compliance and public confidence in the tax authority. That is why the best practices of Swedish Tax Agency are of great importance for the STS” – emphasized Oleksiy Lyubchenko.

He also expressed confidence that implementation of the METS project could give impetus to very important changes within the STS. The main meta-project is to improve capacity of tax administration and facilitate transformation of the STS into a more modern, reliable, efficient and service-oriented service. This is fully in a line with strategic goals set by the Tax service.

Participants of the meeting discussed main directions of the project work and approved the work plan for 2021.

Swedish colleagues noted great progress in activities of the State Tax Service of Ukraine.

Deputy Head of the Swedish Tax Agency Fredrik Rosengren said that he was impressed by achievements of Ukrainian tax authorities, who in difficult times caused by the coronavirus pandemic, effectively perform their duties and introduce new services for taxpayers. According to him, the Swedish tax authorities will not only be able to share their achievements but also learn from experience of Ukrainian colleagues in many areas.
