Work of the Tax Services of Ukraine, Lithuania and Latvia, strengthening their capacity and areas of strategic cooperation were discussed during a trilateral meeting by acting Head of the State Tax Service Lesya Karnaukh, Head of the State Tax Administration under the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Lithuania Edita Janušienė and Director General of the State Revenue Service Republic of Latvia Baiba Šmite-Roke, and their deputies.

“This visit is extremely important for us – especially in the extremely difficult times that Ukraine is going through today. I am grateful to our friends from Lithuania and Latvia for their concrete assistance. The trilateral cooperation format between Ukraine, Lithuania and Latvia is of particular importance to us. State Tax Service is currently undergoing a difficult transformation in the context of war, European integration and profound institutional changes. International cooperation is opportunity not only for professional dialogue, but also for real qualitative changes” – said acting Head of the State Tax Service Lesya Karnaukh.

She emphasized that the State Tax Service of Ukraine should become modern service institution, operating on the basis of data and analytics. Therefore, experience of the international partners in implementing risk-based model, improving quality of audits, improving work with tax debt and developing digitalization is extremely important.

As a part of the event, participants also joined the Norwegian Tax Administration Leadership Conference online.

Lesya Karnaukh told how the Tax Service works in the wartime conditions, how, despite constant attacks by the russians, it manages to maintain the continuity of key processes. Despite the crisis circumstances, the State Tax Service must provide high-quality services to the taxpayers.

Acting Head of the State Tax Service also spoke about priorities of the State Tax Service: transition to systemic development, macro-financial stability, European integration and fulfillment of international obligations, increasing integrity and trust in the Tax Service. Special emphasis is on the development of tax compliance, digital solutions, effective management and human capital. All these areas are interconnected and form a single logic – modern, transparent and service-oriented Tax Service.
