Ruslan Kravchenko: Two tax officials were caught illegally transferring information from the State Tax Service

, published 02 May 2025 at 18:09

Two Tax Service’s officials from Dnipropetrovsk and Poltava regions were reported on suspicion of illegally copying information from the State Tax Service. They were exposed due to active interaction of the State Tax Service with the law enforcement agencies. This was reported by Head of the State Tax Service of Ukraine Ruslan Kravchenko in the Telegram channel.

"Both tax officials had access to information that is processed and stored in the information and communication system of the State Tax Service. They unauthorizedly copied information from the Unified Register of Tax Invoices about the taxpayers during 2024. Later, they "leaked" it to the third parties, particularly to administrator of one Telegram channel, who sold it. This is data regarding financial activities of companies, product prices and counterparties. Information could have been used by competitors to the detriment of bona fide business" – added Ruslan Kravchenko.

Facts of unauthorized copying and sale of information with limited access from the State Tax Service’s system were documented due to effective cooperation of the Corruption Prevention and Detection Department of the State Tax Service with the Main Investigation Department and the Cyber Police Department of the National Police, the Prosecutor General's Office and Department for Counterintelligence Protection of the State's Interests in the Information Security of the Security Service of Ukraine. A pre-trial investigation in criminal proceedings is currently ongoing.

"Increasing trust towards the State Tax Service directly depends on our ability to admit mistakes. Not to cover up our own, but to cleanse ourselves of dishonest employees and those who violate the law. It is unpleasant to talk about such facts, but without this there will be no trust towards the State Tax Service" stated Head of the State Tax Service.

He also added that this is a signal to all those who want to “drain” and sale closed State Tax Service data that they will have to answer for it under the law.
