Tax debt management: State Tax Service will adopt Belgium experience

State Tax Service of Ukraine and Federal Public Service Finance of Belgium will cooperate in the tax debt management sphere. Parties have identified priority cooperation areas and outlined the first practical steps.

Cooperation will take place within implementation framework of the Memorandum of understanding between the Federal Public Service Finance of the Kingdom of Belgium and the State Tax Service of Ukraine.

Effective tax debt management is one of the key factors for financial stability of the state. That is why the State Tax Service is focusing on the transition from fragmented solutions to a comprehensive management model that combines digitalization, analytics and effective interaction with taxpayers.

“It is important for us to have practical cooperation to exchange experience and implement effective solutions in the tax debt management and repayment spheres. We are committed to specific results and gradual implementation of modern European approaches” – emphasized Deputy Head of the State Tax Service Andrii Trotsko during the online meeting with team of the Federal Public Service Finance of Belgium.  

Parties identified key areas for further work on improving tax debt repayment procedures. Among them:

- creation of the IT solution “Work with debt”, which should provide a comprehensive approach to the tax debt management and strengthen analytical capabilities of tax authorities;

- improvement of tax legislation aimed at simplifying collection procedures, expanding electronic interaction with taxpayers and increasing efficiency of the debt repayment instruments, taking into account principle of economic feasibility.
