Lesya Karnaukh: State Tax Service reduced number of actual audits by a third in August

After introduction of moratorium, in August alone, number of actual audits decreased by almost a third, while maintaining quality of their effectiveness. This was informed by acting Head of the State Tax Service Lesya Karnaukh on the Facebook page. 

Slightly more than 3.6 thousand actual audits were conducted in July. According to operational data, their number decreased by more than a third to 2.3 thousand in August. 

"We are changing philosophy of conducting audits. Moratorium is not about a complete ban, but about restrictions. We are actively applying risk-based approach" – she added. 

Lesya Karnaukh emphasized that if business operates honestly, the state should respect this and not create unnecessary pressure. 

"We only inspect where there are really the greatest risks and a high probability of violations. Audits have also not been canceled for those entities that are involved in circulation of excisable products. We have identified about 80 risks. Tax authority is not a punitive authority, but a partner for business" – she emphasized. 

Acting Head of the State Tax Service also emphasized that where there is no basis, there is no audit. "Those who work honestly, openly and do not create high risks – have nothing to worry about. This is a trust and partnership between the state and authorities" – she noted.
