Barrier-free communication: tax officials learned interaction ethics and techniques for helping themselves and others at the training

Barrier-free communication and importance of adhering to its principles and components were discussed today by participants of the “Barrier-free communication” training organized as a part of the National barrier-free week. Representatives of the State Tax Service, particularly employees of the Taxpayer Service Centers and communications departments, joined event.

Training speaker – Svitlana Shpak, regional coordinator of the All-Ukrainian mental health program "How are you?" in Kyiv city, Head of the psychological rehabilitation department of the Kyiv city Rehabilitation Center "Askold". 

She introduced the participants to:

- types and principles of barrier-free access,

- rules for using terminology,

- ethics of interaction during stress times,

- methods of responding to various challenges,

- communicating peculiarities with people that have war experience,

- assistance to children in distressing situations.

Tax officials will be able to use knowledges and skills they have gained not only in communication with the taxpayers, but also in their personal lives. Training contained a lot of useful information and practical exercises to maintain mental health and psychological well-being, which is very important in the wartime.

As Deputy Head of the State Tax Service of Ukraine for Digital Development, Digital Transformations and Digitalization Nataliia Kalienichenko noted, one of the signs of developed society is its ability to take care of everyone and everybody.

"In a society that strives to be fair, modern and open, this is not just a requirement of the time, but indicator of humanity and respect. This is not only about ramps and elevators. This is about the attitude towards inclusiveness, accessibility of services, information, opportunities, regardless of the physical, age, language or social characteristics of a person" – said Nataliia Kalienichenko.

State Tax Service is active participant in the implementation of such socially significant projects and is transparent, modern and technological service that provides high-quality and convenient services to the taxpayers.
